"The Call of Cthulhu" was written in 1926, but only published in 1928,
in the February issue of "Weird Tales" (that's most of the joke, I guess you get it).
(as cleverly noted by Boddy D., the drawing of the Cthulhu statue
by HPL was done much later, around 1934. But I'm still NOT an historical )
It was the beginning of a long, strange and rich story for the pulp figure of Cthulhu;
for this 100th anniversary, there's a huge upcoming actuality,
including a first appearance in a mainstream movie.
